Dick Clark Shumaker grew up in Wilmerding, Pennsylvania, a small town shaped by George Westinghouse and the Westinghouse Air Brake Company. Now 84 years old and living in Lake County, Florida, Dick looks back on a remarkable life of family, business, determination, invention, success, hardship, and starting over.

At the heart of his story is his mother—a pianist, organist, and teacher—whose simple advice remained with him throughout his life: “You have a brain. Use it.”
